Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins, also known as Antonietta Gonzales-Collins in the US and Mexico, is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She currently works as a sportscaster for ESPN and is anchor for SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. Since 2016, Collins has joined ESPN. She is the daughter of the TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bilingual since the age of nine. Her skill was instrumental in securing her first position as producer assistant at Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In St. Petersburg, she was later hired by the CBS station to work as the sports reporter. Then, in 2009 the reporter relocated to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as in addition to Fox2 News. In 2009, she moved into Rio Grande Valley, Texas, where she became an editor for KNVO48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. Also, she would fill in at times as a news and sports anchor. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate and she assumed additional responsibilities. She reported on the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys as well as the NBA Postseason and the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Aside from this she was also the host and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She was advertised as anchoring sports to Despierta America Deportes' morning show. Her parents divorced within a short time and in 1995, she married a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. It was during a summer vacation that she stayed with her sister living in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had gotten an employment. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school and had a very clear vision of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University in order to determine if they suited her. In the end she was enthralled with the university. The university offered her major. When she finished her high school education, she chose to go to the university with a major with Media Studies. Her relationship lasted for a while with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor at WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a member. Mark's passion for journalism and confidence in her own abilities inspired her. In turn, she was determined to achieve his expectations and never disappoint him.
