Selena Y Los Dinos formed officially in the year 1981. The group is a company of the Quintanillas, and their main source to earnings. Although there were tough times at the beginning with little money the Quintanilla family was determined and continued in their endeavors to be an effective band. They would see their patience pay back in the mid 1980's as Selena Y Los Dinos gained notoriety in the western states. Selena was named Female Vocalist and Performer at the Tejano Music Awards in 1986. From then on, Selena Y Los Dinos were one of the most successful winners every year, and they gained popularity and recognition. They appeared on numerous Spanish language television shows including El Show De Johnny Canales Siempre En Domingo and Sabado Gigante.
